The adventure
of Bivouacs huttopia
Bivouacs came from thinking about how difficult it is to find incredible – and legal – places to sleep on a road trip. Because let’s face it, things can go south pretty quickly when you’re facing the stress of not being able to find anywhere to camp. And yet, when we think of road trips, we think of nature, wide open spaces, the idea of stopping wherever you want. The reality is a bit different, and Bivouacs aims to simplify this part of the experience by providing you with incredible, wild and legal spots you can book in just a few clicks.
THE concept
Bivouacs is also an invitation to change how you think about travelling, slow down in order to better explore, take your time and disconnect from space and geography.
When we came out of the COVID lockdowns, slow travel had become a more widespread mindset. Micro-adventures saw a surge in popularity and the desire for authentic experiences in the great outdoors developed naturally. It was all about a different way of travelling, far from mass tourism: closer, more mindful, with a positive impact on the environment. By making it easier to take this approach, Bivouacs is also transforming each traveller into a caretaker of the places they visit, encouraging them to connect with nature and respect ecosystems.
Today, Bivouacs Huttopia is pushing this mission one step further by making this type of travel, where freedom meets environmental preservation, accessible to all.

The Story of Olivier and Eva
The story of Bivouacs began with Olivier and Eva, who shared the same passion: travelling the roads of Europe in search of wild landscapes and outdoor adventures. Their van was their house, the roads their playground. But on each road trip, the same problem came up: where could they find unique, unspoilt spots where they’d be completely immersed in nature? Too often, they found themselves in crowded car parks or soulless motorhome stopover sites – a far cry from the experience they wanted.
Out of all the places they discovered, there’s one that occupies a special place in their hearts: a wild little beach in Brittany – ‘La Plage d’Eva’ or ‘Eva’s beach’. It’s there that they set down their luggage for the first time on their very first road trip together. A secluded place where it felt like time had stood still and they understood what travelling really meant to them: freedom, simplicity, connection with nature.
One day, while they were sitting on this beach at sunset, Olivier had an idea. What if the owners of unspoilt plots of land could host travellers looking for an authentic wild camping experience? It would be a way to enable nature lovers like themselves to enjoy unique experiences while also sharing the beauty of completely wild spaces.
