What is Bivouacs Huttopia?

Bivouacs Huttopia is a platform that enables roaming travelers to find and book wild camping spots in the heart of nature, on privately owned land that has been carefully selected and visited by our teams.

Whether you’re traveling in a campervan, converted van, rooftop tent, or even by bike, Bivouacs Huttopia offers you over 500 exceptional spots across France, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal—bookable in just a few clicks, fully legal and with complete peace of mind. Say goodbye to crowded sites and makeshift parking lots.

What type of camping equipment do you accept on the spot?

Bivouacs welcome a wide variety of travel setups:

  • Campervans and converted vans
  • Rooftop tents (on cars or 4x4s)
  • Folding caravans
  • Classic tents
  • Bicycle touring with tent

Motorhomes are not permitted on our spots, in order to protect the natural environment and due to access constraints related to the layout of the land.

How many vehicles are allowed at a Bivouac?

Each spot can accommodate a maximum of 2 pitches, meaning 2 vans at the same time. This is a deliberate choice: it ensures every traveler enjoys peace, space, and authenticity, without ever risking overcrowding. Each pitch can host up to 4 adults (or 5 people if the group includes at least one child), with no extra charge per person. One pet is also allowed per pitch.

How many nights can I stay at the same Bivouac?

The maximum stay is 2 consecutive nights per pitch. This limit is intentional: it encourages travelers to keep moving and discover new places, in the true spirit of nomadic travel that lies at the heart of Bivouacs Huttopia.

Do you offer van hire?

No, but we work with partners who are specialised in van hire :

What does my booking include?

Your booking includes:

  • Exclusive access to your spot for the reserved night(s)
  • A location in the heart of nature, on private land selected and approved by our teams
  • Capacity for up to 4 adults (or 5 people if your group includes at least one child), with no extra charge per person
  • One pet allowed per pitch
  • The guarantee that you’ll share the site with a maximum of 2 vans

As our Bivouacs are preserved spaces in the great outdoors, they do not have electricity or sanitary facilities (unless otherwise specified in the spot description).

How do I know if my booking is confirmed?

Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation notification by email. You can also view your booking confirmation at any time by accessing your user account.

What is the price for one night?

Prices vary depending on the season and the type of spot:

  • Standard Bivouac: €15/night (off-season) — €20/night (July 1 to August 31)
  • Bivouac Plus (exceptional views or services, about 15% of all spots): €18/night — €25/night in high season

The rate applies per pitch, for up to 4 adults (or 5 people if there is at least one child), with no extra charge per person. Payment is by bank card only.

Can I amend one or more nights of my stay?

It is not yet possible to amend an existing booking.
To change something, you will need to cancel your stay and make a new booking.

How do I cancel a booking?

Cancellation or modification is possible up to 72 hours before arrival, with a refund in the form of a credit valid for 1 year, which can be used for a future booking. After this period, the stay is non-cancellable and non-modifiable. These conditions apply only to nights booked at Huttopia Bivouacs. For nights at Huttopia Campsites, CityKamps Huttopia, and OnlyCamp: cancellation or modification is possible up to 30 days before arrival, after which the stay is non-cancellable and non-modifiable.

Which payment methods are accepted?

Currently, we only accept card payments. Other payment methods will be available soon.

What is the arrival and departure process at a Bivouacs Huttopia?

Upon arrival:

• You can arrive any time from midday on the day of your booking. There is no specific time slot for arrival.

• Once there, you are free to set up wherever you like in the Bivouac Spot.

• If there is a gate at the entrance to the Bivouac Spot, you must close it behind you each time you go through to maintain the tranquillity and safety of the spot.

When you leave:

• You must depart no later than midday on the day of departure.

• You must ensure that you leave your pitch clean and tidy and respect the environment by taking your rubbish away with you as per the traveller charter.

• If there is a gate, it must be closed behind you when you leave.

Bivouac Spots are designed to give you a simple experience that you can have completely independently, so you can enjoy nature to the full!

Will I be in contact with the owner during my stay?

No, a stay at a Huttopia Bivouac is designed to be completely self-sufficient. The owners do not provide an on-site welcome and are not in direct contact with guests. If you encounter any issues during your stay, the Huttopia Bivouacs customer service team (bivouacs@huttopia.com) is your main point of contact. You can also rely on the Huttopia Bivouacs WhatsApp Club community, where experienced travelers and the Huttopia Bivouacs team can quickly step in to help you.

Do you accept pets?

Yes, 1 pet per pitch is allowed. This rule is in place out of respect for the owners and the natural environment of the spots. As a guest, you agree to ensure your pet’s good behavior and to leave no trace of their presence on the site, in accordance with the Traveler’s Charter you sign when booking.

Will I be alone in my Bivouac?

Not necessarily alone, but always among a very limited number of travelers. Each spot can accommodate a maximum of 2 pitches, meaning 2 vans at the same time—either your group, and possibly another traveler. This is a deliberate choice: it ensures peace, space, and authenticity, and completely avoids the feeling of overcrowding that can be found at unmanaged spots.
