Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bivouacs Huttopia?
Bivouacs Huttopia is a platform where you can book exclusive wild camping spots – Bivouac Spots – on private land. We give travellers staying in camper vans, roof tents or standard tents the opportunity to spend a night in the great outdoors in complete tranquillity, without having to worry about where it’s legal to camp.
What kinds of vehicles can I take to a Bivouac Spot?
Our spots accept:
✔ Vans up to 6m long
✔ Roof tents
✔ Standard tents
✔ Teardrop caravans
Motorhomes are not accepted, both due to access issues at the majority of our spots and to maintain a healthy balance with nature at the sites. Their weight and their impact could harm these spaces that we want to keep wild and authentic. Our priority is to offer unspoilt spots in harmony with the environment.
How many vehicles are allowed at a Bivouac Spot?
A Bivouac Spot has a maximum of two pitches in order to preserve peace and quiet for travellers and residents and keep each Bivouac Spot exclusive.
How many nights can I stay at the same spot?
The maximum duration of a stay at a Bivouac Spot is two consecutive nights to encourage touring-style trips moving from place to place.
Do you offer van hire?
No, but we work with partners who are specialised in van hire :

How do I know if my booking is confirmed?
Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive a confirmation email. You can also view your booking confirmation at any time in your user area (link to log-in).
What is the price for one night?
The nightly rate is €20 in low season (1 September to 30 June) and €30 in high season (1 July to 31 August).
A tourist tax of 5% per pitch is also added.
This rate does not apply to Onlycamp campsites.
Payment for the entire stay is required at the time of booking.

To change something, you will need to cancel your stay and make a new booking.

Will I be alone in my Bivouac Spot?
Spots can host up to two vehicles, so you could share the site with another traveller. The option is available to book both pitches to ensure that you will have the spot to yourself.
Road Trip
What is a Road Trip? How does it work?
Our Road Trips are generated by artificial intelligence based on your preferences and criteria. You choose the region you want to explore, the duration of your trip, whether you’ll be travelling alone or with others, and the ideal travel time between each stop on your journey.
Based on these parameters, a tailored route is created, with a selection of spots suited to your trip. If you wish, a list of activities near each Bivouac Spot will also be provided to enrich your experience and allow you to explore the region in a different way.
And if your Road Trip is more than 7 days long, more comfortable stops at Onlycamp campsites will also be suggested.
Can I personalise my route?
Yes! You can adapt your route by choosing certain stops based on your preferences and how fast you want to travel. It is also possible to add additional nights at certain spots, depending on availability.
How do I book a Road Trip?
You can book your Road Trip directly on our platform. You’ll just need to check the availability at the Bivouac Spots and book the trip. You’ll receive all the necessary information for your trip, including the exact addresses of the spots and Onlycamp campsites included on your route.
How much does a Road Trip cost?
The price varies depending on the duration and the stops included on your route. But the nightly rate remains the same, so you can refer to the answer to the question “What is the price for one night?”

Support and Contact
What happens if there’s a problem when I arrive?
Run into a problem at the spot? Can’t access it? Just let us know using the emergency button on the spot page. You’ll then be able to send us photos to confirm it is inaccessible and the reasons for the problem.
When you report the problem, you’ll immediately be credited the value of your night’s stay, and you can use this credit (valid for one year) to book another spot nearby or a pitch at one of our Onlycamp partner campsites.
What happens if there’s a problem or an accident at the Bivouac Spot? Do I need to take out a specific type of insurance?
Every traveller needs to be covered by personal liability insurance. This insurance is essential to cover the cost of any claims made against you for injury to third parties or damage to third-party property.
On our side, as the party running the site, we only cover damage caused to travellers in connection with our running of the Bivouac Spot. This includes incidents such as a branch falling on a vehicle or a traveller.
Please remember that we are not responsible for the weather. If you choose, despite unfavourable conditions, to venture onto waterlogged ground, and you get stuck, it will be down to you to find a solution at your own cost. In some cases, local landowners with tractors might be able to help you.
